Kobelco SK1300DLC-11: A New Standard for High-Reach Demolition

Demolishing a tall structure is not simply a matter of fitting a longer boom to a conventional excavator. The machine must remain stable while supporting heavy demolition tools at height, give the operator clear visibility, and be practical to assemble, transport, and reconfigure between projects.

The new Kobelco SK1300DLC-11 was developed specifically for these demanding demolition conditions. With multiple boom configurations, a maximum working height approaching 40 metres and an operating weight of up to approximately 137.7 tonnes depending on specification, it is one of Kobelco’s largest purpose-built demolition machines.

Up to 39.6 Metres of Demolition Reach

The SK1300DLC-11 can be equipped with a four-piece NEXT ADVANCE ultra-long attachment in either 40-metre or 35-metre configurations.

The 40-metre version provides a maximum working height of approximately 39.6 metres and can handle a demolition tool weighing up to 4,300 kg. Its maximum permissible working reach is approximately 18.9 metres.

For projects requiring a heavier and long reach models, the 35-metre configuration supports tools weighing up to 5,200 kg, while delivering a maximum working height of approximately 35.2 metres.

An articulated insert boom helps keep the machine’s centre of gravity lower. This enables the SK1300DLC-11 to reach greater heights without simply increasing the base machine’s weight, improving the balance between reach, tool capacity and stability.

More Reach Through Three-Piece Configurations

Not every demolition project requires the maximum possible height. Some sites need a broader working radius so the machine can remain farther away from the structure.

For these applications, the Kobelco excavator is available with three-piece ultra-long attachments:

ConfigurationMaximum working heightMaximum working reachMaximum tool weight
35 m type35.1 m21.4 m5,050 kg
31 m type30.7 m18.8 m6,100 kg

The 35-metre three-piece configuration reaches approximately 21.4 metres horizontally, offering a useful combination of height and distance for large industrial buildings and complex demolition zones.

Built for Low-Level and Foundation Demolition Too

The SK1300DLC-11 is more than a high-reach machine. Its separate-boom specification expands its use to low-level demolition, foundation removal, underground excavation, and lifting work.

Using the in-cab monitor, operators can easily switch between Normal and Foundation modes. Normal mode supports attachments up to 9,600 kg, while Foundation mode boosts the maximum tool capacity to 12,000 kg.

The separate boom can also be fitted with an insert that extends the maximum working height to approximately 23.6 metres, while retaining a tool capacity of 9,600 kg. This versatility allows contractors to adapt one base machine to several phases of a demolition project.

512.3 hp for Heavy Demolition Work

Power comes from a six-cylinder ISUZU 6WG1 diesel engine producing 512.3 hp, or 382 kW, at 1,800 rpm. The engine is matched with a high-capacity hydraulic system using two variable-displacement pumps.

Depending on its attachment configuration, the SK1300DLC-11 has an operating weight ranging from around 127,300 kg to 137,700 kg. Travel speeds are approximately 2.6 km/h in low and 4.2 km/h in high, helping the machine reposition around a prepared demolition site.

Easier Assembly and Transport

Transporting a machine of this size can significantly affect project cost and mobilisation time. Kobelco addresses this with a modular subframe structure that allows the main boom to be removed in approximately two hours.

Once prepared for transport, the base machine can be reduced to approximately 32 tonnes, excluding the separated components. Split arm sections, hydraulic pin connections and multi-line hydraulic couplers are also designed to shorten assembly and disassembly time
A two-piece counterweight and standard translifter further simplify preparation. These features can be particularly valuable on urban projects where road restrictions, trailer dimensions and mobilisation windows must be carefully managed.

Safety Designed Around Demolition Risks

High-reach work requires long reach excavaors constant awareness of machine position, attachment angle, and surrounding hazards. The SK1300DLC-11 includes a stability warning system that calculates tipping risk based on the attachment position and upper-structure swing angle.

A cab-interference prevention system provides visual and audible warnings when the attachment approaches the cab, then automatically applies a soft stop. Multiple cameras cover the rear, both sides, the area beneath the upper structure and, on selected specifications, the high-reach attachment.

The demolition cab can tilt by up to 30 degrees, helping the operator maintain a more comfortable viewing position when working overhead. Protective guards, LED work lights and a dedicated demolition display further support safer operation.

How Much Does the Kobelco SK1300DLC-11 Cost?

The final excavator price depends heavily on the selected boom configuration, attachment package, crusher requirements, transport equipment, and regional specification. Therefore, an accurate excavator price in UAE should be based on the intended demolition height, tool weight, and project conditions rather than the base machine alone.

Contractors searching for an excavator for sale in Dubai should also consider mobilisation requirements, attachment compatibility, operator training and aftersales support when comparing quotations.
